Stutter Interrupted:
The Comedian Who Almost Didn't Happen
Guidelines for Book Signing Events with Nina G
Nina is touring the world with her book (even virutally), Stutterer Interrupted: The Comedian Who Almost Didn’t Happen. She will be working with colleges, corporations, nonprofits and stuttering support groups to raise awareness and celebrate the disability/stuttering experience. Themes of her book and presentations include empowerment, self-acceptance, advocacy, and awareness.
Specific events are dependent on the budget and what the event planner is looking for. These include:
-
Conference keynotes
-
College or corporate presentations
-
One person shows
-
Night club stand-up comedy (possible adult content)
-
Readings/Q and As
The price range for these events vary from depending on the day/time/place/goals of the event and presentation. Nina will be doing a limited amount of book signings in collaboration with stuttering support groups as part of a stuttering awareness campaign. Peer-led support groups co-sponsoring events will be be expected to:
-
Find a venue within the community. This might be a bookstore, library or community center that would co-sponsor the event for free.
-
Promote heavily on social media and in the community
-
Attempt to get press (newspaper, TV, etc..) within the communities where the event happens. You will be given access to press releases, flyers and photos to facilitate this process.
-
Co-sponsoring organizations should be aware of the adult language used in the book, but events will not necessarily be for adult only audiences. Nina does assemblies for children and can effectively adapt her story and content for an audience of kids and adults.
“Whip-smart, bighearted, and laugh-out-loud funny. Stutterer Interrupted is a must-read for anyone who cares about building a more equitable and inclusive world.”
